Day 36!

Well.. I could write for hours today, but it wouldnt be super interesting so I wont. I got up reasonably early and me and Mrs Kirste went to the Wilhelma, the massive Zoo and Botanical Gardens in one. I set my alarm for 8 but forgot to activate it, and around 8.20 Mrs Kirste woke me up. I had a shower and a quick breakfast, and around quarter to nine we were off on our way to Wilhelma.

The Wilhelma is a really old gardens that was built long ago by a King called Wilhelm. We got a park close by and after buying a ticket made our way in. Inside the Wilhelma is a bunch of beautiful flowers and planets like in any botanical garden, but also some cool specialised houses like the Amazon house, and a massive room of different cactii and another full of fuschias. There were tons of animals.. and as you probably know Im a real animal lover.. so all in all I ended up shooting 421 photos (257 of which I kept). In doing so I almost used an entire charge of batteries, but it was so great!! Im putting a bunch up on the flickr site (not quite 250.. but quite a few) so I think if you have time the best would be to look at the photos. I can talk about the animals and stuff.. but its not as interesting.

I must say though the Wilhelma was totally great. It was so well kept, and as well as all of the beautiful plants and animals, there were lots of really cool, oriental styled buildings and awesome statues and water features around the place too.. I coulda spent ages and ages there! (altho I kinda did). One thing I didnt get a good photo of but was classic was this little turtle that would swim around and whenever it saw another turtle would swim right up in its face then start slapping it with both front legs :) HILARIOUS!. Itd take on any old sized turtle.. The bigger ones could kinda fend it off.. but the littler ones had no answer.. I dunno what the turtles problem was, but he was taking it out on everyone he saw :).

We stayed at the Wilhelma and pretty much visitng everything except the petting zoo. Firste walked around, then saw the sealions getting fed, and then walked around a bunch more :). Around 3 or so we headed back to the car. Once home I came online and started loading photos on flickr and had some late lunch. Since then Ive taken a break to win a game of poker (he he), had some dinner, and written this blog. Im near finished loading all the photos now (theres like almost 800 on my flickr now.. :S!.. but im sure once im settled in in Sweden the number of photos I load up will significatly drop.. so thats cool!). Definately go and see the flickr site of the animals and stuff! Alot of the photos look better when you view a larger size.. but if internet speeds an issue then dont worry :)!

Only 3 days more in Germany now :(.. how sad! But its been totally great!!

Gute Nacht
